Dear Dice,

I would like to apologize on the behalf of my fellow gamers. I know you guys have been receiving a ton of flak from gamers who have recently witnessed the footage of Battlefield 3 running on the PS3. I for one would like to commend you guy’s effort. And what you guys have achieved thus far with the technology inside the PS3 is simply breath taking.

I mainly side with PS3 gamers most of the time as far as things that they complain about because a lot of their arguments contain logic. Such as How the media never focuses console sales numbers as worldwide instead of just doing NPD. Or the fact that online gaming should be free. Or the fact that edge has some bias against PS3 exclusives,  etc… But this time I have to honestly say PS3 gamers are in the wrong by not only expecting their version of  Battlefield 3 to match the PC version, but for also comparing your game to PS3 exclusives and saying it looks worse. And for that I  apologize. Hopefully my letter to PS3 gamers will help change their minds on your game and how it compares to PS3 exclusives and why the PS3 version won’t ever match the PC version.  Also Dice if you have any more information as to why the PS3 version wont match the PC version i would be in debit to you for sharing it with me so that I can relay it.

Dear PS3 gamers,

I love you guys for the most part but lately some of you guys not all of you have been acting crazy. Why do you guys feel it is necessary to compare every game to a PS3 exclusive? And the way you guys have been treating Battlefield developers, Dice is down right atrocious. You guys have called in to question their technical prowess with the PS3 and said that it doesn’t match that of  Sony’s first party studios and I have to say that may be a bit of a lie. The first reason you guys are wrong is because your trying to compare the graphics of  Battlefield 3 which is a first person shooter to those of God of War 3 and Uncharted 3. And yes while those games are graphical champions they are from a different view perspective which allows their respective developers to allocate their resources elsewhere and use different tricks to enhance performance in different areas graphically. Now I know there is an elephant in the room named Killzone 3 and that is a more even comparison to Battlefield 3. And honestly I think Battlefield 3 looked very good and could possibly rival Killzone 3 once it’ goes  final and is released.  Yea and that another thing I almost forgot to mention the game footage was alpha status. How about we allow dice to finish before we condemned them to the bowels of hell.

As far as the PC situation goes those of you looking for the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 to match the PC version are delusional and need to check yourselves. While the cell processors is a beast the RSX GPU inside the PS3 is outdated and is the real bottleneck on the graphics of the PS3. While I love you guys I’m sorry to say the PS3 doesn’t have enough untapped power to match a PC running one of the latest graphics cards.

Also I feel as though PS3 gamers should show a bit more humility especially when it comes to DICE. Their games for the most part have had pretty good parity when compared to their 360 counterparts. This is unlike last years Call of Duty Black Ops where the PS3  version was an absolute joke in comparison to its 360 counterpart. With not only a lower resolution but scaled back graphical effects as well.

  This September Sony will release an officially branded PlayStation 3 wireless headset. The thing that seperates this headset from the previously released Playstation Headsets, is that this headset will not only do voicechat, but will also do game audio as well. The new headset will have a simulation mode that does 7.1 channel audio. Also going from the pictures it appears the new headset is padded with a leather headband and earmuffs. The headest also has a boom mic and supports the High quality mode on the PS3. The headsets price is tentively set at $99. Also the rumored firmware update 3.70 for the PS3 is to add support for the headset and possibly cross game chat.

 Epic Games has released the first Gears of  War 3 campaign trailer today. The trailer is pretty good and makes Gears of  War 3 looks like it’s going to be a kick-ass game come this fall.
