Mafia 2 demo impressions.
The Mafia 2 demo has just been released for PSN and Xbox Live users. The demo puts players behind the eyes of Vito Scaletta. Vito in the opening cut-scene, appears to be getting hired by Henry. Henry accompanies Vito throughout the demo, to help him pull off the hit, on a guy only known as ” The Fat man.”

The demo starts out shortly after the opening cut-scene. You receive a call from Henry and Joe, Joe is the comic relief out of the 3 characters and also seems to be close friends with Vito. After you receive the phone call you have to meet Henry and Joe at 233 Misery Lane. However, on the way there you can stop and do a wealth of things, just be sure to pay attention to the Demos 10 minute timer. If you play like me though and just want to do the main parts, and skip the exploration your first play through of the demo. Then you will embark on the mission of trying to kill “The Fat man.” The mission has plenty of action. The structure and pacing of the mission are about perfect and are sure to keep gamers moving forward.

Things that stand out in the demo are the details. Things like; the sound blaring authenticity of the radio playing in Vito’s apartment. The look of the environments; the shot you witness of the city in the background when crossing the bridge is, in a word, breath-taking. Another thing that stood out was the feel of the cars. The cars in the demo have a true sense of weight to them and the analog gas and break pedals are a nice touch as well.
The combat in the game is finely tuned as well. Aiming down enemies using the controls come naturally. Slipping in and out of cover goes over pretty well too. The only thing missing from the combat is the ability to fire while in cover, while this omission is bothersome it does little to detract from the experience.
If you’re looking for a game to give you a fix until the next Grand Theft Auto or just looking for something to fill your summer up then I suggest you check out the Mafia 2 demo.

Cant wait to buy this game
Whos the guy that you are playing in the last picture?
I doubt its Vito when hes old… lol
I was egar to purchase this game at launch… until the demo. I’ll wait till it’s in the $10 used bin. I wouldn’t of purchased GTA4 if there was a demo. !! I HATE VEHICLE CURLING !!! I like everything else about the game, that is why I will buy it eventually. I had GTA4 for about 6+ months and played it for about 10min a month. I kept thinking why don’t I play it, and boot it up. Then I remember…damn vehicle physics and that damn Euphoria engine. I will never buy from rockstar again if it has “Euporia” written anywhere. I forgot about that engine when I stupidly purchased Red Dead Redemption. I finished it as fast as I could to get at least half my money back in trade-credit. I HATE EUPHORIA. Anyone ELSE agree?
crap game fail!!
